I have been reading -

Saplings by Noel Streatfeild. It's about children growing up in England in world war 2 and it kept making me cry. But it's great, and it's published by the lovey Persephone Books.

Each book has the same grey cover, but the end papers are a pattern from a fabric that was made at the time the book was written, or is somehow relevant to the story.

Saplings has this one -

Which, according to their website is -

"A 1938 fabric by Marion Dorn was chosen for Saplings. It is called 'Aircraft' and shows pairs of stylised pigeons in flight on a background of natural linen. It contains the imagery of aircraft being readied for war yet of birds freely in flight."

I like this...

...and I'm terrified of it in equal measure.

It's from this amazing collection

A stroll around lewes

These books were in the window of a really cute, old bookshop.

I love this little house, it really reminds me of one of my drawings.

Its the end of the world-

...or a music video shooting in an old copper mine in anglesey. It somehow feels like the end of the world though.
